When you purchase a tough and spacious used Renault Kangoo that is for sale at Group1, you are investing in a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) that offers reliability, stylishness and the ability to carry heavy loads across the urban landscape with ease. Manufactured in France, Argentina and Morocco since 1997, the Renault Kangoo is now in its third generation Kangoo and is still one of the most sought-after light commercial vehicles.
The Renault Kangoo was discontinued in South Africa in 2019. Luckily, you can still find a good used Renault Kangoo at Group1 Renault, as we offer a range of quality pre-owned Renault vehicles for sale at our used vehicle showroom in Stellenbosch.
3rd Generation Renault Kangoo

The third-generation Kangoo was unveiled abroad on November 12, 2020, alongside a lower-spec, separate model called the Express. It is built on the all-new CMF-CD platform developed by Renault and Nissan. Production began in late 2020, with sales starting in early 2021. The little French workhorse comes wrapped in an edgier new exterior design. It is available as a Kangoo Van or a Kangoo Van Maxi, with the latter also offered as a 5-seat Crew Van. As expected in such a workhorse vehicle, the standard equipment is minimal, but it does include practical features for the job, such as rear parking sensors, a height-adjustable steering column, and non-radar cruise control. Also added as standard equipment is the Renault Easy Link multimedia system, safety upgrades and redesigned seats focused on comfort and durability. Did You Know? The 3rd Generation Renault Kangoo offers a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine, a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a fully-electric ZE version. While none of the third-gen Kangoo models are available in SA yet, this improved Phase II version of the Renault Kangoo van is a worthy contender in the small van sector globally. |

Please note that although globally there are 3 model variants of the second-generation Renault Kangoo, namely the Compact, Express and maxi, only the Renault Kangoo Express is sold in South Africa. It comes standard with a 1.6 Litre 16V Normally Aspirated (Multipoint Injection) Engine. Launched in 2007 to much Fanfare both in France and all global markets, the Renault Kangoo 2 as it has affectionately been dubbed has proven to be one of the biggest selling Light Commercial Vehicles ever built by Renault. It is also one of the most innovative and as of the end of 2018, the electric variant of the Kangoo called the Z.E. (not available in South Africa), has become the world’s top-selling all-electric LCV, with global sales in excess of 38,000 units! Did You Know? The Mercedes-Benz Citan LCV is actually a rebadged Kangoo! This a is a great indication of just how good a vehicle the Renault Kangoo is, because if a company such as Mercedes-Benz wants to partner with Renault to produce their own Light Commercial Vehicle then you know it must be one of the best in the world. |

1st Generation Renault Kangoo
|
|
---|---|
Launched in late 1997, the first-generation Renault Kangoo, which is also known as the Kangoo 1, was the spiritual successor to some of Renault’s most iconic LCV models such as the Estafette and the Colorale. It was available in a number of model variants from the onset of its global sales, which included a four-wheel drive version as well as limited edition electric versions of the vehicle. This generation of Kangoo received a complete makeover in 2003, four years before it was discontinued in favour of the next generation Kangoo 2 (see above). Did You Know? A pickup version of the Kangoo was unveiled in 2002 called the Renault Break’Up. Unfortunately, it only ever made the concept vehicle phase but we think it might just have been a big hit in a country such as South Africa. It could have competed with the Ford Bantam, the Corsa Bakkie and even the legendary Nissan Half-ton Bakkie. |
