With its 3-front and 2-rear seat arrangement and nest inspired interior, this was a unique car for its time. Current 1st Generation Renault Kwid 2016 – Present
The First Generation Renault Kwid is an exceptional entry-level crossover that was originally destined to be sold only in the Indian market. It was an immediate hit from the moment it was unveiled in mid-2015, which ensured its global introduction into emerging markets such as South Africa and Brazil. Since its South African launch in 2016 a Limited Edition Kwid Climber has been launched to much fanfare (in 2018). We regularly have 2020 and 2021 Kwid models available as well as Used Kwid Climber models for sale on our pre-owned vehicle showroom floor Designed by a team lead by mathematician Gérard Detourbet, who also helped develop the first-generation Renault Logan, the Kwid is the first car to be built on the jointly developed Nissan/Renault CMF-A Platform. This makes it larger than Renault’s other “entry level vehicle” (which is not available at this time in SA) the Twingo. It also has an elevated sitting position and an extended ride height, which adds to its Crossover credentials. Powered by a reliable 999cc Renault engine that puts out an impressive 50kW of power at 5500RPM and 91Nm of torque at 4250RPM, this is a car that gives a lot but does not cost the earth to run. Drive wise the Kwid uses MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam on the rear to ensure the best possible handling. 2019 Renault Kwid Facelift The Renault Kwid facelift of 2019 features three trim levels: Expression, Dynamique, and the top-tier Climber. Each model comes standard with ABS braking and dual airbags, with an option for AMT (automated manual transmission). The most striking update is the redesigned front end, featuring a trendy split-light setup with slim daytime running lights above robust main headlights framing a new grille, and new LED taillamps. Renault has also enhanced the Kwid’s safety specs, ensuring it remains competitive without a full second-generation model. Did You Know? When it was launched the Kwid was named “the most voluminous boot space in its class” by the Financial Express in India. Additionally, standard specs across the entire range include a host of comfort features that are simply not available in many other vehicles in this class.
